Chinese Dragon Cake

Image
This Chinese dragon cake was for a friend of mine's birthday. I've made her a dragon cake every year for the past few years.  I made a 6-inch chocolate cake and frosted it with vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream. I covered the cake with light blue fondant. I rolled out a strip of green fondant and cut it into a wave shape. And I wrapped it around the cake. I added some randomly shaped clouds. And rolled out a very long snake shape. I added some texture of scales to the snake. And I wrapped it around the cake and molded a face. Then I added some legs. I cut some triangles. And placed them down the spine of the dragon. Then I started working on the face. I rolled some snakes of red and added some eyebrows, mustache and beard. Then I added some black eyes and white eyebrows, mustache and beard. I'm proud of this cake. It might not be traditional Chinese, but I think you can tell what I was going for. Happy Birthday, Lisa! Watch us make this Chinese dragon cake on YouTube here:

Recipe: Apple Crumble

Image
I've had several questions about this recipe recently.  Apple Crumble: 6-8 apples 1 cup (125g) flour 1 cup (200g) brown sugar 2 tsp cinnamon ½ tsp salt 1/3 cup (80g) butter Peel, core and slice the apples into small pieces.  I’m placing the apple pieces directly into the greased and lined 10 inch square cake pan, but you could use anything of a similar size.  Then, in a separate bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt.  Then cut in the butter, use your hands to combine properly until the mixture looks like crumbs.  Sprinkle your crumbs over the apple pieces until it’s completely covered.  Bake at 350°F or 180°C for 35-45 minutes.  Watch us make this simple recipe on YouTube here: https://youtu.be/4PrYkcCrgEg Schaut zu wie wir dieses einfaches Rezept auf YouTube machen hier: https://youtu.be/lPYZ5gOX7tk

Roses Baptism Cake

Image
This cake is for the 8-year-old daughter's friend for her baptism. She helped design the cake. So, Leonie wanted a figure of herself on top of the cake. I can't make realistic figures, so my figures are quite stylized. I made a little body in a dress and thin white sleeves. Then I added hands and a neck as well as a toothpick to add stability. I added a round head. And a brown piece of hair on the back of the head. I added some thin locks of hair around the head and painted on a kawaii style face. Then I cut out a whole lot of circles from pink fondant and made a whole bunch of fondant roses out of them. I frosted the cake. This is a 6-inch vanilla cake with vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream. And I covered it in white fondant. Then I used this fondant press mold to form the letters of Leonie's name. And placed it on the cake. I placed the figure in the middle on top of the cake and placed the roses around the cake in groups. I made a handful of green leaves. And I placed
