Hearts Cake for Valentine's Day

Image
This is a sweet, little hearts cake for Valentine's Day. I started out frosting a 4-inch cake dummy with vegan American buttercream. Then I cut out a whole bunch of white, pink and purple hearts. I placed the hearts evenly around the cake. I also placed some hearts on top of others to give it more dimension. I love this cute, little cake. I think it's very cute and romantic. Being so small it would be great for two. Buttercream Valentine's Day Cake

Image
This year I wanted to make something relatively simple, but really pretty. I was just feeling buttercream flower vibes. I started out with a 4-inch cake dummy frosted with vegan American buttercream. Then I had three colors of buttercream: white, red and pink. White buttercream in a piping bag with a half round, half star tip. Red and pink buttercream in piping bags with petal tips. I started out piping two petals, or a rough heart, onto the bottom of the cake. Then I piped a large pink rose onto the top of the cake. And I piped some red flowers and red petals along the bottom. I surrounded the rose with white stars. Then I piped a bunch of rose buds on a flower nail. And transferred them to the top of the cake. Then I piped some white stars between the hearts along the bottom, a shell border along the edge and a rope border along the back edge of the cake. I think this cake is really sweet and romantic. It's perfect for Valentine's Day. Watch us make this sweet Valentine'...

Valentine's Cakes For Two

Image
I decided this year, that no one is going to have a Valentine's Day party. It's not what Valentine's Day's about anyway. What you really want is a romantic Valentine's Day with your significant other. So, it's time to make some small Valentine's Day cakes for two.  So, I started out with some pumpkin spice cupcakes. I placed two on a cake board.  I frosted the tops of the cupcakes. And stacked another one on top. Then I frosted one of them as if it were a layer cake. Just cover it with frosting. Smooth it and clean up the cake board. Then I pressed some pink sprinkles all over the cake. I cleaned up the excess sprinkles and frosted the second cake. I pressed some gold sanding sugar into the second cake. Then I put some white buttercream in a piping bag with a small star tip. And I piped some tall swirls around the bottom of the pink cake. As well as on top of the cake. I piped a tall shell border around the gold cake. And piped a reverse shell border around...

Dress up a Sheet Cake: Valentine's Day Ombre Petal Cake

Image
Shades of pink and red. Hearts. Petals. What could be more romantic and more appropriate for Valentine's Day? First I frosted my sheet cake with white buttercream.  I got out four similar sized round piping tips.  I had two bowls of buttercream.  which I colored with pink food coloring. One with significantly more coloring than the other.  I mixed them through and I had two different shades of pink.  I also had white and red buttercream. I put all four colors into piping bags with the large round piping tips.  The technique is called a petal technique. There are a couple ways to do this. You can pipe a blog and use the back of a spoon to smear it in one direction. But my favorite way is to pipe the blob and pull in one direction with the piping tip.  I kept the same order of the colors all along and set the pattern down one every row.  I continued this pattern all the way along the sides of the cake.  And all the ...
