Ice Cream Series: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

Image
This is a continuation of our ice cream series and this one is a favorite of lots of people: chocolate chip cookie dough.  Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream: 4 cups or 1 L of vanilla ice cream 1/2 recipe edible cookie dough rolled into balls and frozen  First of all, prepare the edible cookie dough balls. You will need very small balls.  You want them to be small enough to fit on your spoon, so just a tiny pinch and roll it in a ball. I placed them in a lunch box. This is a step the kids can help with. Place these in the freezer overnight.  Then, to make it into ice cream, allow the ice cream to sit out for an hour or place in the microwave for one minute. Stir until smooth.  Fold in the cookie dough balls.  They can stick together a bit.  Pour the mixture back into the ice cream container. Freeze for two hours.  Stir once through to make sure the cookie dough balls don’t all fall to the bottom. Freeze for at least 4 hours....

Recipe: Definitely Not Cherry Garcia Ice Cream

Image
Today we are making cherry chocolate chip ice cream that is definitely not cherry garcia ice cream. Definitely Not Cherry Garcia Ice Cream: 4 1/2 cups (1 L) vanilla ice cream 2 cups (300g) frozen cherries (sweet or sour to taste) 1 cup (170g) chocolate chips Cut the frozen cherries in half.  Allow the ice cream to sit out at least one hour or microwave for 1 minute. Put the ice cream into a large mixing bowl. Stir until the ice cream is soft, but not runny.  Stir in the cherries and chocolate chips.  Allow to freeze about two hours. Stir the ice cream to keep all the pieces from sinking to the bottom.  Freeze at least 4 hours. This ice cream is just full of chunks of cherries and chocolate chips. If you don't want quite so many chunks, feel free to half the additions. So delicious. Recipe: Rocky Road Ice Cream

Image
This is my version of rocky road ice cream. Rocky Road Ice Cream: 4 1/2 cups (1 L) chocolate ice cream 1 cup (140g) whole almonds 1 cup (60g) mini marshmallows 1 cup (200g) chocolate covered peanuts (optional) I have to comment about the chocolate covered peanuts. I remember them being in rocky road ice cream, but in researching it I found out that they are not classic to the recipe, so evidently it was just the brand that I had as a child. I will include them just because I remember them in it. But you can completely leave them out for a more classic recipe. Allow ice cream to sit at room temperature for 1 hour or microwave it for 1 minute. Stir until ice cream is soft, but not runny.  Stir in almonds, marshmallows and chocolate covered peanuts.  Freeze for two hours. Stir to make sure all the ingredients haven't sunk to the bottom.  Freeze for at least 4 hours over overnight is better.
