Retro Thank You Farewell Cake
This cake came about because about a year ago I promised my girls' pediatrician that I would make them a cake when they came near retirement, since both the receptionist and the doctor were close to retirement. Then, we found a nice, new apartment and decided to move. I just didn't feel good about leaving without making a cake for my daughters' pediatrician. She had always been wonderful and great with the kids. The receptionist had literally been working there for decades and had helped countless children and parents, including myself. So, even though I should have been packing, I decided to take some time and just make them a cake. Since I had free reign in the question of cake flavor, I made my favorite vegan chocolate cake and vanilla American buttercream.
