Recipe: Mars Cereal Bars

Image
Let's first address the elephant in the room: "But Mars bars don't exist!" Well, my American friend, in the United States, these bars were renamed Milky Way. Mars bars do still exist, as you can see in the video, in Europe and other areas of the world. Mars Cereal Bars: 1/2 cup (125g) butter 4 + 1 Mars bars (Milky Way bars in the US) 3 cups (90g) Rice Krispie (or plain Cornflakes) cereal 1 cup (160g) milk chocolate chips or chopped milk chocolate In a bowl, melt butter and 4 Mars bars together in the microwave or over a double boiler.  Pour over cereal in a large mixing bowl. Toss to combine.  Press into greased casserole dish.  Melt milk chocolate and spread over the cereal.  Cut slices of the last Mars bar and place on top of the chocolate.  Allow the chocolate to set up completely. Cut into small squares.  These are great. They have a lovely crunch from the cereal and are full of chocolate. Watch us make this delicious recipe on our YouTube channel...

Remove from heat. Add peanut butter to sugar mixture and stir until completely melted. Pour mixture over cereal and stir together until all the cereal is coated with peanut butter mixture. Pour all the cereal mixture into a well-buttered baking dish and press it in with buttered hands. Mixture should be cool enough to touch. Melt chocolate in the microwave at 50% power until completely melted. Pour onto the cereal bars and allow to set up at room temperature. If making without chocolate, cereal bars are ready w...
