Recipe: Cinnamon American Buttercream

Image
I've already made a recipe of cinnamon Swiss meringue buttercream. I decided I needed one of American buttercream. Cinnamon American Buttercream: 1/2 cup (125g) butter 4 cups (500g) powdered sugar 2-3 tbsp milk or milk substitute 2 tbsp cinnamon Cream butter until light and fluffy.  Slowly beat in the powdered sugar, adding milk a tablespoon at a time if the buttercream is too thick.  Add the cinnamon last.  This cinnamon buttercream is full of cinnamon. It has quite an intense flavor. If you prefer something milder, considering halving the amount of cinnamon. But I loved it. It was just the right amount for me. Chocolate and Fruit Cake

Image
This cake was for a friend of mine for her birthday and she told me she loves chocolate and all kinds of fruit... best together. That gave me a few ideas. I had some leftover marble cake in the freezer. Then I made some milk chocolate ganache. And I bought a lot of fresh berries the day before. Strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. I filled the cake with strawberry slices and ganache. Then I frosted the cake with the ganache. I lined the sides with strawberry halves. The top with raspberries. Then I placed a few strawberries on top. Filled in the gaps with blueberries. And lined the sides with blueberries. This cake looks so very appetizing. I mean, who wouldn't want to eat that cake? Happy birthday, Linda. Recipe: Lemon Swiss Meringue Buttercream

Image
I already have a recipe up for lemon American buttercream, but I prefer Swiss meringue buttercream. I decided it was time for a Swiss meringue buttercream version. Lemon Swiss Meringue Buttercream: 7 eggs, separated zest of 1 lemon juice of 3-4 lemons (about 3/4 cup or 180mL) 3/4 cup (150g) sugar 1/4 cup (65g) cold butter 1 1/2 cups (300g) sugar 2 cups (500g) butter 1/2 tsp salt You're going to need two heat-proof bowls for this recipe. I have two metal bowls. In one, add the egg yolks, 3/4 cup sugar, lemon zest to it. Juice your lemons, straining them to make sure there are no seeds, and add it to the bowl. Whisk everything together. Heat mixture over a double boiler, stirring frequently, until color begins to lighten. Add cold butter and stir until butter is completely melted. Set aside and allow to cool completely. Lemon curd will thicken as it cools. Then, in the second metal bowl, whisk egg whites and sugar together. Heat over a double boiler, stirring frequently, until no mo

Peppa Pig Cake

Image
My daughter initially asked for a Peppa Pig themed cake for her 5th birthday, but she eventually changed her mind and went with Paw Patrol and Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom. But I realized that I was actually looking forward to make the Peppa Pig cake. So, I decided to make one anyway. I frosted an 8-inch cake dummy with vegan American buttercream. I covered half the cake with blue fondant. And the other half with light green fondant. Basically all the outdoor scenes in Peppa Pig just look like this. Green ground, blue sky. I made a few fluffy white clouds out of white. I also printed out these pictures of Peppa and George. Then, using my picture as a template, I cut out George's clothes out of blue fondant. And Peppa's red dress. Then I cut out their heads and placed them on the cake. Then I placed their ears and legs. And arms. And with a slightly darker pink, I placed some cheeks and Peppa's mouth. Then their nostrils and the whites of their eyes. And I added their
