Recipe: Mint Vegan American Buttercream

Image
I have a very plain recipe up on my channel for Vegan American Buttercream. However, that one doesn't have much flavor and isn't really meant to taste good so much as it is meant to look pretty. So, I decided it was time to make a vegan American buttercream recipe that has actual flavor. Let's start with mint. Mint Vegan American Buttercream: 1/2 cup (125g) vegan margarine 4 cups (500g) powdered sugar 4-5 tbsp water or plant-based milk 1 tsp mint extract turquoise food coloring (optional) Cream butter. Slowly add powdered sugar, adding water a tablespoon at a time to achieve consistency. It should look something like this. Add flavoring and food coloring. This buttercream is still quite sweet, but it is no longer flavorless. Recipe: Vegan Applesauce Cookies

The background of this recipe is that I wanted to make cookies for my colleagues and one of them is vegan. So, I decided to try these amazing vegan applesauce cookies. You can, of course, use real butter if the vegan aspect isn't important to you. Vegan Applesauce Cookies: 2 1/4 cups (275g) flour 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp nutmeg 1/4 tsp cloves 1/2 cup (125g) dairy-free margarine 1 cup (200g) brown sugar 1 cup (250g) applesauce 1 cup (200g) raisins 1 cup (125g) chopped walnuts (optional) Cream the margarine. Cream with brown sugar. Add applesauce. Add dry ingredients. Fold in the raisins and nuts. Spoon onto a lined cookie sheet. Bake at 350°F or 180°C for 8-10 minutes. These cookies are soft and full of flavor. Recipe: Vegan American Buttercream

Being very conscious of intolerances and special diets, I decided it was time to show everyone how I make my vegan American buttercream. Vegan American Buttercream: 1 cup (250g) vegetable shortening (you can also use vegan margarine) 8 cups (1000g) powdered sugar ca. 1/4 cup water or liquid of choice 2 tsp flavoring of choice (vanilla extract, almond extract, lemon extract, etc.)  First, cream the shortening.  Then add the first box (2 cups or 250g) of powdered sugar.  Thin it down with water to get it to the right consistency. Now would also be the best time to add your flavoring.  Now the next box of powdered sugar. Keep adding the powdered sugar one box at a time and add the water a tablespoon or two at a time to thin it down whenever it gets too thick. Add more powdered sugar if it gets too thin.  In the end, it should look like this. White and gorgeous. This recipe works really well for wedding cakes because it is so white. And it...
