Hello Kitty Hearts Cake

Image
This cake was 100% requested by my 6-year-old for her birthday. She wanted a Hello Kitty cake for her and her friends. It should be 2 tiered, strawberry cake with strawberry buttercream and hearts all over it. Okay, let's do it. I made a 5-inch and a 7-inch strawberry cake. And strawberry Swiss meringue buttercream. And, of course, fresh strawberries. I sliced the strawberries. And filled the cake with them. I also found a strange hole in one layer of cake that I filled with a strawberry. Then I frosted the cake. I made the top tier on a piece of cardboard cut to size and covered in tin foil. Then I frosted the top tier. And I covered both tiers in white fondant. I added some pieces of wooden skewer cut to size and placed the top tier on top. Then, I made two big, pointy ears. In hindsight, I could have made them bigger. Then I added two black circles as eyes, black stripes as whiskers and a yellow circle as a nose. I used a plunger cutter to make this pink bow and placed it below...

Oreo cake or cookies and cream cake is basically vanilla cake with pieces of chocolate cookies in it. Oreo Cake: 1/3 cup (80g) butter 2/3 cup (150mL) oil 2 cups (400g) sugar 1 tbsp baking powder 1 tbsp vanilla extract or 3 tbsp vanilla sugar 1/2 tsp salt 3 cups (375g) flour 1 cup (225mL) milk 6 egg whites about 20 (220g) Oreo cookies or similar chocolate sandwich cookies Cream butter. Add oil and sugar and cream together.  Stir in baking powder, vanilla and salt.  Beat in a third of the flour at a time alternating with half the milk.  In a separate bowl, beat egg whites to stiff peaks and gently fold into the rest of the batter.  Chop the Oreo cookies into fourths and stir into the batter.  Bake at 325°F or 160°C for 35-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Oreo Drip Cake

Image
This delicious cake was for my daughter's sixth birthday for our family party. I put some Oreo buttercream in a piping bag. Although this didn't end up working at all, but it was a good try. I also made some cookies and cream cake. I filled the cake with Oreo buttercream. Split some Oreo in two. And placed them as filling in the cake. Doesn't that look great? Then I frosted the cake with Oreo buttercream. And I melted some milk chocolate. And dripped it onto the cake. And, because I was unable to pipe the Oreo buttercream because of the chunks of cookies clogging the tip, I ended up just topping the cake with Oreo cookies. But doesn't this cake look amazing? I think this is the ideal cake for any Oreo lover. Happy Birthday, Natalie.
