Pie Crust Recipe
This has been the recipe I've used for pie crust since I was about 12 years old and learned how to make pies. It's really quite simple.
Pie Crust (double pastry)
2 cups (250g) flour
dash of salt
2/3 cup (160g) butter or margarine or shortening
4-5 tbsp water
Put dry ingredients in a bowl. Cut in butter with a pastry cutter or two knives. Fluff water in with a fork. Knead dough for no more than two minutes or just until dough holds together. Roll out one half at once on a generously floured surface. Bake according to the instructions for your pie.
This recipe makes two single crusts or one double crust.
I love to bake the excess dough on a baking sheet, sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar and baked at 350°F or 180°C for 5-10 minutes. One of my favorite snacks.
