White on White Winter Snowflake Cake

This cake was for a Kindergarten bake sale. I wanted to make something Christmasy, so I made cinnamon cake. People in Germany rarely eat cinnamon except at Christmas time.

This is one recipe of my cinnamon cake layered into two layers.
I fill and frost the cake with vanilla American buttercream.
Then I do a quick crumb coat.
 And frost it again.
Then I used three sizes of snowflake cutters to cut snowflakes out of white fondant.

 I started with large snowflakes.
I added one in the center of the cake and cut others in half and lined them around the side of the cake.
Then I moved on to medium snowflakes.
And laid them over the edge of the cake all around.
Finally, I added small snowflakes around the top of the cake.
This cake is super easy and is a very simple design. Perfect for a casual Christmas get-together.
And yet, there's an elegance about white on white which could also make it appropriate for a more formal occasion.
 Merry Christmas!
