Tutorial: How to Make a Fondant Bow

This tutorial is fast, easy and adorable.

I'm going to show three ways to make a fondant bow. With a fondant press mold, with a bow cutter and without any equipment.
First, press some fondant into the press mold and scrape off any excess.
Carefully turn them out of the mold and you've got your first bows!
Now, some of you may have a bow cutter like this one. They look a bit confusing to use. I'll show you how.
First, press the shapes out of fondant and remove the excess.
Take the puffy-looking piece and fold the ends toward the center.
Then take the small rectangle and wrap it around the middle of the bow.
The other pieces are the tails. Just set the bow on top of the tails.
These are fast and easy and quite cute.
Finally, if you don't have either of those things, or if you just want to make your own bows a different size, they're not too hard without the equipment. Roll out a strip of fondant and cut it to be relatively even.
Pinch the middle of it to about half the size it was.
Fold the ends toward the center and pinch the ends to the same size as the middle.
Finally, wrap a small strip of fondant across the middle and you have a bow!
Let's make a larger one so you can see what's possible. I rolled out a wider strip of fondant and cut it into a rectangle.
Pinch the middle together, fold over the ends toward the middle and make the ends into an M shape and press them together.
Finally, wrap a strip around the middle. This one, I plumped up the loops a bit. You can even put tissues into the loops to hold them up while they dry.
I use all of these at some point or another. They all have their uses. I use the tiny bows as accents on girly cakes all the time.
The small cut bows are nice when you need just this size.
The medium bows are great when you need to personalize the size.
My favorite is the big bow, though.
