Miraculous Cake with Ladybug and Cat Noir

This cake was a request from a friend of mine. Her daughter loves Miraculous.

So, I decided to make both Ladybug and Cat Noir on one cake. I started with Cat Noir's ears. I cut out two triangles of black fondant and laid them over a rolling pin to dry.

Then I frosted my cake. This is six-inch round chocolate chip cake with vegan American buttercream.
Then I rolled out some red fondant and covered half the cake with it.
 I trimmed it down.
Then covered the other half with black fondant.

Then, using a skewer, I traced the shape of the eyes as if this were part of the mask Cat Noir wears.
 I cut out the eyes.
And did the same thing with Ladybug's side. Except her eyes don't tilt up as much as Cat Noir's.

Then I placed the ears on Cat Noir. I had a hard time getting them centered, but I did my best. I also covered the bottom edge with balls of black fondant on Cat Noir's side.
And red fondant on Ladybug's side. And I cut out some black spots out of black fondant using the back of a piping tip and placed them all over Ladybug.
Then, measuring for the length, I cut out some white eye shapes and cut out the circles with the back of a piping tip.
Using the same piping tip, I cut out some light blue circles and placed them in the eye shapes.
Then I cut out circles from the center of the eyes using a large round piping tip.
And filled them with black fondant.
Now the eyes I just made were slightly too large for the eye holes I cut out, so I had to trim them to size to fit them in.
Cat Noir has yellow-green eyes. Even the whites of his eyes. So, I cut out the same eye shape out of yellow-green fondant and cut slits out of the middle for the pupils. Cat eyes.

And placed them into the eye holes the same way.
Finally, to add depth to the eyes, I painted the outside edge of the iris a dark blue on Ladybug.
And a darker green on Cat Noir.
I think this cake turned out beautiful.
It's very true to Lady Bug and Cat Noir from the TV show Miraculous.
The only downside was that I couldn't photograph both sides of the cake at the same time.
But, turning it around works, too.
 Happy Birthday, London!
