Recipe: Red Velvet Cake

I developed this recipe myself, as a non-Southern person. So, I am not claiming this is authentic Southern. But, it does taste amazing.

Red Velvet Cake:
2 cups (450 mL) buttermilk
2/3 cup (150 mL) oil
1 tbsp vinegar
1 1/2 cups (300g) sugar
3 tbsp cocoa powder
1 tbsp vanilla extract
dash salt
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
2 cups flour
red food coloring
Add buttermilk, oil, vinegar and sugar into a large mixing bowl and mix with a spoon or whisk until sugar is dissolved. Add cocoa powder and vanilla extract and combine.
Then add the dry ingredients and whisk until no clumps of flour are left.

Finally, add red food coloring until the desired color is achieved.

Bake at 350°F or 180°C for 35-45 minutes or until toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
