Bread Baking: English Scones

This recipe was a request from a friend. She asked if I had ever made English scones. Why, yes, I have. Let's do it!

So, English scones are very similar to buttermilk biscuits from the US. Except English scones are a bit sweeter and uses regular milk instead of buttermilk.

English Scones:
2 cup (250g) flour
3 tbsp sugar
4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3 tbsp butter
2/3 cup (150mL) milk

Add flour, sugar, baking powder and salt to a large bowl and combine.

Cut in butter, eventually using your hands to break the butter apart until mixture resembles wet sand.

Add milk and mix in with a spoon. Dough will be very sticky.

Spoon dough onto a floured, lined baking sheet. Press down, adding a bit of flour on the top of the dough if it's too sticky to press down.

Cut out into about 2 inch circles and separate them from each other. You can also spoon some dough onto your lined baking sheet and press them down with your palm to get almost the exact same shape.

Bake at 425°F or 220°C for 12-15 minutes. Serve with jam and clotted cream traditionally. I prefer them with honey.
