Rainbow Cupcake Cake

I decided it was past time to make a cupcake cake. And everyone loves rainbows.

I started out with a dozen banana cupcakes.

And I got out six star tips of various kinds and sizes and a large round tip.
I split most of the frosting into six bowls.
And added food coloring.
Mixed it through into all the colors of the rainbow.
So, I have six rainbow colors in piping bags with star tips and white with a round tip.
Then I arranged the cupcakes on a display board like this.
Then I piped some round tops on the four bottom cupcakes like this.
And I added fluffy tops.
And I started in the middle of the rainbow with green tall stars.
Then I added yellow.
And blue.
Purple left a gap between the cupcakes, so I piped a tall star from the cake board up to fill in the gap.
Then I added orange.
And red had the same problem as purple with the gaps between the cupcakes. So, like the purple, red also sometimes starts at the cake board.
But how gorgeous is this rainbow?
Makes me think of St. Patrick's Day. Or pride. Or unicorns.
Here you can see the frosting that starts low.
