Recipe: Homemade Eggnog

 Eggnog is one of those things that reminds me of the holidays, but isn't really a thing there. So, time to learn how to make it myself.

Homemade Eggnog:
6 egg yolks
1/2 cup (100g) sugar
1 cup (225mL) heavy whipping cream
2 cups (450mL) milk
1/2 tsp nutmeg
pinch salt
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
ground cinnamon (optional)
alcohol to taste (optional)

Whisk egg yolks and sugar together. Set aside. 

Combine cream, milk, nutmeg and salt. Heat in a saucepan to a simmer. 

Add a tablespoon into the egg mixture to temper it. Add the egg mixture to the saucepan a tablespoon at a time and whisk together until everything is combined. 

Allow to simmer until thickened. Remove from heat. Add vanilla and alcohol. Sprinkle with cinnamon before drinking.
