Bread Baking: Garlic Pull-Apart Bread

This is a delicious German bread recipe for garlic pull-apart bread.

Garlic Pull-Apart Bread:
4 cups (500g) flour
1 tbsp dry yeast
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 1/4 cup (280mL) warm water
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp garlic powder
1/4 cup (70g) soft butter
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 tbsp pizza or Italian herbs
1 egg

Combine water, sugar and yeast. Stir to combine.

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and 1 1/2 tsp salt.

Stir in oil and yeast mixture until you can't anymore and knead to finish combining all ingredients.
Dough should be soft, but not sticky. Cover and allow to rise for an hour.
Next, combine butter, rest of the salt, pepper, garlic and herbs.
Stir together.

This is your garlic butter.
Then, when the dough has finished rising, punch down and knead briefly.
Take small amounts of dough and press them into discs.
Add a generous dollop of garlic butter in the middle.
Fold the dough over to cover the butter.
Place the rolls into a baking dish.
Then, in a small bowl, beat egg.
Brush beaten egg over the rolls.
Sprinkle with garlic and herbs.
Bake at 350°F or 180°C for about 25 minutes or until the rolls are golden-brown.
The rolls are amazing.
Even my kids loved eating them.
Perfect to accompany an Italian meal.
