Three-tiered Rainbow Flowers Birthday Cake
This cake was for a friend's 50th birthday party. She asked for vanilla cake and mango buttercream.
So, I made 8-inch, 6-inch and 4-inch vanilla cakes and mango Swiss meringue buttercream.
Then, on a washable, acrylic cake board, I stacked the middle tier.
And finally, on a spare disposable cake board, I stacked the smallest tier.
Then I frosted the tiers again and cleaned up the cake board.
Then I covered the tiers with fondant.
Once I had all the tiers covered in fondant, I stacked the cake.
In the bottom tier, I placed one long wooden skewer through the center and a bunch of them flush with the cake around the cake.
I spread some buttercream on top of the cake to help the middle tier stick in place.
Then I placed several skewers around the middle tier. Added some buttercream and placed the top tier.
Now we have a three-tiered, fondant-covered cake.
Then I spent a million years cutting out allllllll these flowers using various flower cutters out of every color of the rainbow.
By this point, the sun had gone down.
I placed the rainbow colors around the cake starting at the bottom.
I also cut out and placed a red 50 along the top of the cake.
I am really proud of how pretty this cake turned out.
It is really gorgeous.
And my friend was really happy with it. It was completely eaten at her birthday party.
Happy 50th birthday, Constance.
