Cinnamon Ornaments
I don't want to call this one a recipe, since you are not meant to eat them, but this "recipe" is for (non-edible) cinnamon ornaments to hang on the Christmas tree. I love how they smell.
Cinnamon Ornaments:
1 cup (250g) applesauce
1 1/2 cups (200g) cinnamon
Yep, only two ingredients. Pour applesauce in medium bowl. Stir in most of the cinnamon, but leave some to the side. Stir mixture together as well as possible.
Roll out on parchment paper using a bit of cinnamon to keep it from sticking. (Don't use flour. Use cinnamon as you would flour when rolling out cookie dough.)
Roll it about 1/4 of an inch thick. Use cookie cutters of whatever kind you like to make the shapes. Use a skewer or piping tip to create a hole in each one.
Bake in the oven at 200°F or 90°C for about 1 1/2 hours. You are just allowing the applesauce to dry completely. Thread a string or ribbon through the hole. Use a needle threader if you're having trouble. These are delicate and will break easily. And, if you have a toddler or pet who like to put everything in their mouths, these won't hurt them. But they don't taste good and aren't specifically meant to be eaten. They make a great and aromatic addition to a too-sparse Christmas tree.Merry Christmas!
