Recipe: Homemade Berry Pop Tarts

We've made cherry pop tarts before. But let's try some berry pop tarts.

Homemade Pop Tarts:
2 cups (250g) flour
2/3 cup (185g) butter
1/2 tsp salt
3 tbsp sugar
about 1/4 cup (55mL) water
berry jam
2 cups (250g) powdered sugar
1 egg white
purple food coloring (optional)
sprinkles for decoration (optional)

Combine flour, salt and sugar. Cut in butter.

Sprinkle water a tablespoon at a time and knead briefly to make sure the dough comes together.

Roll out on a floured surface. Cut into squares.

Place the first squares on a lined baking sheet. Spoon jam on a square of dough. Place a second square of dough on top and pinch edges together.

Poke the top with a fork.

Bake at 350°F or 180°C for about 15 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely.

Combine egg white, powdered sugar and food coloring with a whisk to make purple royal icing. Frost with royal icing and sprinkles.
