Kindergarten Farewell Cake With Rainbow Alphabet and Sprinkles
This cake was for a farewell party for my daughter's Kindergarten. We've started a tradition of making a cake for the group. But this year is special. My oldest daughter is leaving this year and my youngest is coming into the group. So, for Sabrina, it really is a farewell.
Now, what child doesn't love funfetti cake? So, I experimented a bit with my funfetti cake recipe. And this time it tasted amazing. So much better even than usual. This is a 9-inch round funfetti cake cut into two layers.
I filled the cake with a generous amount of vanilla American buttercream.
Then, just for good measure, I sprinkled some sprinkles between the layers.
Then I placed the second layer of cake on top.
And I crumb coated the cake with American buttercream.
Then I frosted the cake again, cleaning up the cake board when finished.
Then I used this twisted star piping tip.
And put it in a piping bag with vanilla American buttercream.
And I piped some simple stars at the bottom of the cake.
I wanted to cut out a fondant alphabet out of rainbow colored buttercream. So, I wrote the alphabet like this so I could cut out all the same colors at the same time.
It looked like this. And I know there are two O's.
And this is why. I wanted to write the word Good-bye on the cake.
The rest of the letters are scattered in a semi-random pattern around the cake.
Finally, I pressed some sprinkles onto the top of the cake and up the sides. The buttercream had already set, so it had a bit of trouble sticking.
But I love how it turned out.
Colorful and random.
It's a great way to say good-bye.
Good-bye Kindergarten. Ready for the next chapter in life.
